Activity Based Budgeting (ABB)

One of the Network’s key challenges is to arrive at the best cost to be used to price circuits. Put simply, at its essence, Activity-Based Budgeting (ABB) begins by looking at results and the activities that created them, as opposed to cost-based budgeting, which often begins with raw input and material and works outward. ABB provides visibility on evolution of circuit costs allowing a breakdown by country, region, protocol, circuit speed, speed group, etc. It combines information from different sources to estimate the cost which enables a better pricing strategy.

Chimera’s ABB solution has the following highlights:

  • Estimate the cost impact of a project or business case
  • Estimate the net cost from month to month for circuits with activity like Implement, Disconnect, Upgrade and Move
  • Budget and manage the costing at the unit level
  • Control the implementation, expenses and overheads
